|Job title||Trainee Site Manager|
|Course||Construction Site Supervision|
Following a successful work experience placement with Berkeley Homes on the site management team, Ruby was offered the opportunity to join the team in an apprentice capacity after successfully completing her A-Levels. Level 4 HNC in Site Supervision was deemed an ideal apprenticeship to provide Ruby with the knowledge needed to start her career in the construction industry.
Ruby had considered studying architecture at university once she had completed her A-Levels. However, she changed her mind and decided the apprenticeship route was for her after completing a work experience placement onsite.
Ruby Lee is due to complete her apprenticeship in October 2019.
She recently won ‘The Best Apprentice within the Berkeley Group’ at the Berkeley Group Apprentice Awards which took place in September 2018. She is also a finalist for the ‘Women in Construction Award’ at the London Construction Awards which takes place in October 2018.
When her apprenticeship is complete, Ruby is looking to undertake further qualifications and possibly another apprenticeship to extend her knowledge of site operations and management. She is also keen to gain more site engineering knowledge.
I didn’t follow the traditional route of going to college full time as I believe one day every week means your learning can be flexible – and also means you get to adjust your learning timetable to be on site for key tasks without missing out because it coincides with your ‘college day’.
Howard, my trainer at Geason Training has been fantastic throughout my apprenticeship so far. Howard has always been on hand to guide and support me in my learning journey.
