Developing a Career in Software – Learner Success Story

Our Learner Enrolment Officer Sam Thomas works closely with both our employers and learners.
In our most recent blog post below, he shared his delight as one of our learners completed their Level 3 Software Development Technician qualification.

End Point Assessment – Learner Success Story

We recently received the superb news that one of Geason Training’s apprentices, Liam Churchill, has achieved his End Point Assessment and completed his qualification.

Below is a collaborative testimonial from my colleague Hemang Rana – IT Software Mentor for Liam and myself, as well as a quote from Liam at InniAccounts:

Liam was an outstanding apprentice. Liam had a brilliant work ethic and always focused on the task in hand, truly portraying his passion for programming. He possessed excellent programming skills and has since been offered full time employment, whilst he was doing his Level 3 – Software Development Technician apprenticeship. His portfolio was of a good standard and he was awarded a pass overall by the British Computing Society.

Liam said, “I’m thrilled to have passed my EPA and completed my apprenticeship. It’s been a great experience going through a working environment whilst learning on the job and it’s been a great asset to developing my future.”

Trailblazer Ryan achieves a distinction in his apprenticeship

Hardworking apprentice Ryan Warren has embodied the spirit of ‘blazing a trail’ by completing his Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative apprenticeship before his end date and achieving a distinction.

Ryan, who has been an employee of Landmarc Support Services since January 2016, had a background in construction before gaining employment but never had the opportunity to gain formal qualifications which support the trade skills he had gained.  Keen to develop within his career and build on his existing industry experience, Ryan jumped at the chance to complete an apprenticeship with Geason Training – A Speedy Business.  With the support and encouragement of his colleagues, Ryan pursued a Level 2 apprenticeship in Property Maintenance.

During his apprenticeship, Ryan was seconded to the Maintenance team and grabbed the opportunity to learn from the maintenance technicians with both hands.  He was able to develop new skills from trades such as building, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work and has also been involved in a maintenance repairs project.

Ryan’s line manager is particularly impressed with his achievement and the work he has put into developing his fabric maintenance abilities.

Following the support he received throughout his apprenticeship from his colleagues and Timothy Newsome, his trainer at Geason Training,  Ryan feels he has become a more well-rounded Property Maintenance Operative and able to undertake building fabric repairs.

Ryan commented,

“I would like to thank everyone who has supported me throughout this journey. Apprenticeships really are a fantastic way to learn and I’m so proud that I managed to complete my course in the shortest time possible and achieve a distinction. I’m certainly putting my new skills into practice and have been asked to support a major project to refurbish one of our urban training areas. This will really help me to get some more experience so that I can continue to develop my career in this area.”

With learners at the heart of everything we do, we are always excited to offer support and guidance as our learners progress and develop throughout their career. Not one to rest on his laurels, Ryan has already embarked on the next stage of his learning journey by starting his second qualification – a Level 2 apprenticeship in Carpentry and Joinery.
